Conchiglie with bacon, cream, mushrooms, radicchio and sage.

Conchiglie, one of my all time favourite pasta shapes.

Conchiglie truly would make a good friend.  Look at him!  Those private little sanctums where you can hide all your embarrassing secrets.

Like the fact that if you had your way, every single meal you ate would involve a combo of bacon, cream, fried onions and cheese.

Or the fact that you cannot keep a sage plant alive for more than one moment:

The fact that you only put radicchio in your pasta because you felt guilty about going three whole days without eating any of your five a day.

The fact that you would rather take a mushroom's photo and post it on the internet, than spend those same two minutes tidying up your increasingly chaotic living area.

No.  Not conchiglie.  Conchiglie would wrap up all your secrets safe and warm

and wouldn't unfurl them for anyone, least of all the internet.

And if your pasta was particularly delicious and creamy, with salty bacon and caramelised shallots and parmesan on top, then conchiglie might even share your joy by giving you a smile...

  1. Hi!
I just wanted to say that I recently bought Pear Shaped on my Kindle and finished it last night. It was absolutely fantastic- for once a great novel with the perfect balance of sentiment and comedy, and a really enjoyable tone. I loved the protagonist, and I was rooting for her so much during the post-James low (so much so that I actually had a bit of a rant about it to one of my friends, who will be reading Pear Shaped shortly and I’m pretty darn sure she’s going to rave about it as much as I have.) I’m a huge food fiend (not that I can bake. I wish I could bake. I try to bake. But, alas, I can’t actually bake edible delicious which taste as pretty as they look) so I really enjoy books which have a strong food theme running through it.
I’m really looking forward to your next novel, and when I’m next in London, I look forward to trying out some of the haunts you mention. Super luxurious custard donuts? Yes please.

    1. Viennaberry, thank you so much for your comment. The best thing about the book coming out is when a reader outside of my immediate family tells me they've enjoyed it - so thank you for taking the time to do so - you've made my day! Am busy researching (i.e. eating) for book two at the moment...!
